In dealing with the Venezuelan problems of inequality, apparent in many Latin American countries, one cannot overlook the massive amounts of informal housing settlements around the big metropolitan cities, forming what is known as “Barrios” or slums. Consequently, the issue of affordable social housing becomes one of great importance towards the rejuvenation of the urban and social fabrics of the contemporary Latin Metropolis.
